Teaching Philosophy: Here are a few sentences that might give you some insight into why I teach music. I love to share the culture of music practice with people of all ages. I hope my teaching offers students guidance as they chart their own course through the music of all ages and many genres. I try to help students find the music that helps each of them find unique musical expression.

Rates for Children and Teens

I charge a tuition rate based on the number of weeks in a term. Most students thrive with 45-minute lessons. My usual rate for those is $37.50. I schedule lessons over the weeks available, and then charge tuition based on two fewer weeks. That gives everybody some flexibility for canceling when life happens.  For example, tuition for 45-minute lessons in a 12-week term is $375. 

Each term, I ask student to pay a materials recital fee of $55.

Teaching Rates Philosophy: I recognize that everybody's financial situation is different, so if these rates don't work for you, please talk to me. I teach because I want to, and although I need to make a living at it, I have found ways to make it work for a lot of people in different circumstances.

Rates for Adults: My usual hourly rate is $55. Please read  the paragraph above about teaching rates philosophy. I love teaching adults!

Performances: I organize two student recitals a year. I try to make sure that one takes place at The Little White Church in Eaton, NH--a venue with a really fine piano. Other performance opportunities come up and I try to support my student as they each contribute to the musical life of their communities.
