About me

I am an active composer, music teacher, and organizer of music events. I share an occasional Music as Meditation concert with listeners and fellow musicians and I organize several concerts of new music each year. I use this blog to tell people about my musical endeavors and as a home for my virtual busking basket. If you want to support my musical efforts financially, please look for the donate button on the right-hand side of this page. You can find pages about The Davis Hill Studio on this blog. Davis Hill Studio Spring Semester 2019

Piano and Violin Lessons with Ellen Schwindt
Spring Semester 2019
My aim is to create a teaching environment that encourages students to pursue their music learning through careful listening, daily practice, and sustained work toward appropriate performance goals. Students learn best with regular instruction, supported by daily practice. For school-aged students, tuition for piano lessons covers individual curriculum planning, at least 17 weekly lessons over 21 weeks between January 2nd and June 1st, and materials for studying technique, repertoire, and theory. In addition, enrolling as a piano or violin student means that students can
  • perform at a spring recital.
  • participate in a studio class designed for students at their level.
  • prepare for annual music exams that will take place in the spring semester.
  • receive coaching on collaborative music projects in the wider community.
  • Participate in a collaborate project with other musicians that will involve regional travel to good pianos in the area.
Cost: $662.50 for school-aged students. This price includes at least 17 weekly lessons during the calendar months January-May. It also includes materials, independent theory work on the computer at the studio, and additional studio classes and performances. Students should expect to spend 45 minutes at each lesson.  Monthly payments are welcome. Adult lessons (hour-long) are $50 each, scheduled week-to-week to allow for the flexibility necessary for adult life.

Scheduling: Students usually benefit greatly from collaborating with other students. In creating the schedule I will consider which students may benefit from working with others at a similar level so that collaborative projects are feasible. Students will have a regular weekly lesson time.

Flexibility: The pricing of lessons takes some flexibility into account for both students and teacher. Given enough notice, I will do my best to reschedule lessons when a conflict arises. The additional weeks built into the calendar are meant to allow for flexibility.

How to Enroll: Call Ellen at 603-447-2898 or e-mail ellen.m.schwindt@gmail.com. If you are a new student, we will set up an interview to have a trial lesson, discuss goals, expectations, calendar, and scheduling. Davis Hill Studio is appropriate for students of any age wishing to pursue excellence in music. Adult students are very welcome.
